Strike Up the Band Music and Community Bands have been a part of the Washington County area. Join us for a small exhibit on musical instruments that have been played in this county.
Wednesday, June 19, 2013   Life of a Pioneer  9:30 AM  What would it be like to be a child 150 years ago; stop by and find out.
Thursday, June 20, 2013   Wedding Dresses Opens at the Frahm House  3:00 PM - 6:00 PM  June is the month for weddings and we invite you to come to see a number of wedding dresses that have been donated to this museum. It promises to be an affair to remember.
Thursday, June 20, 2013   W-CHAT From This Day Forward  7:00 PM  Sue McLean is back to presnt this W-CHAT on wedding dresses and stories of weddings. It promises to be a special night at the Presbyterian Church in Fort Calhoun.
Friday, June 21, 2013   Trains, Planes and Automobiles  9:30 AM  All have played a part in the history of Washington County. See pictures, wtch videos and make replicas. Ages 4-9 with a fee.
Monday, June 24, 2013   Yarn Art  9:30 AM  You can make lots of things with yarn. We will try some of them. We promise not to string you along. Ages 4-9 with a fee.
Wednesday, June 26, 2013   Native American Culture  9:30 AM  Learn about the music, the art and the history of Native Americans in this area. Ages 4-9 with a fee.
Friday, June 28, 2013   Lewis & Clark  9:30 AM  210 years ago they came by. What did they see? Hands on activities will be included. Ages 4-9 with a fee.
Sunday, June 30, 2013   Washington County In Uniform  Noon - 4:00 PM  Last day to see this exhibit. Enjoy.
Monday, July 1, 2013   Treasure Chests  9:30 AM  Yo ho mates, this is a time to get your pirate on and make a great item to hold your gold and other valuables. For ages 4-9 with a fee.
Wednesday, July 3, 2013   Pioneer Games and Toys  9:30 AM  Play with them and make them. These will be handmade and hands on. Ages 4-9 with a fee.
Thursday, July 4, 2013   Museum is Closed for the Holiday  All Day  Celebrate with family on the 4th and come join us on the 5th.
Friday, July 5, 2013   Civil War Adventure  9:30 AM  Learn about those who fought in the only war we fought against ourselves. Washington County folk fought on both sides. There will be hands on activities and opportunities. Ages 4-9 with a fee.

Living History at the Fort Living history volunteers preserve and interpret the military and pioneer life of Fort Atkinson in the Missouri Territory, 1819-1824. Stop there and then come to the museum
Monday, July 8, 2013   Board of Directors  6:00 PM  The Board of Directors meeting will be held at the Blair Area Chamber of Commerce Board Room in Blair. All are welcome.
Monday, July 8, 2013   Dolls  9:30 AM  An opportunity to make one and also to bring one and tell the story that goes with the doll. For ages 4-9 with a fee.
Wednesday, July 10, 2013   Quilting  9:30 AM  All levels and abilities will have an opportunity to gain skills, from the basics on up. Ages 4-9 with a fee.
Thursday, July 11, 2013   Museum Guild  1:30 PM  The monthly meeting will be concentrating on final preparations for Tractors Tall and Small V
Friday, July 12, 2013   Beads  9:30 AM  The have been important to people around here for hundreds of years we still like to make things with them. For ages 4-9 with a fee.
Monday, July 15, 2013   Grab Bag of Adventure  9:30 AM  Everyone gets a bag and there is something to do inside it. What you get is the luck of the draw. Ages 4-9 with a fee.
Wednesday, July 17, 2013   Frontier Fair  10:00 AM to 1:00 PM  Our annual event where you can display your projects for the summer, play games, win prizes and whet your appetite for fair food. Ages 4-9 and it is FREE!
Thursday, July 18, 2013   W-CHAT: DeSoto & Fort Calhoun  7:00 PM  Originally scheduled for February, this will discuss the history of these two communities.
Thursday, July 18, 2013   Civil War Exhibit Opens  3:00 PM - 7:00 PM  Two years ago we emphasized 1861. This exhibit will emphasize 1863 and what it brought to the war. This will be a day of events with details to come down the road.
Friday, July 19, 2013   Sod Houses  9:30 AM  Our annual adventure into making reproductions of sod houses that are good enough to eat; literally! For ages 4-9 with a fee.
Monday, July 22, 2013   Oh the Places You Go  9:00 AM - 4:00 PM  We are going on a trip. Where, we are not sure, but it will be fun and it will be historical. Details will be out later, but put this on the calendar. This is a parent/child event and we willl be gone for the day. Fee involded.

WCHA at the County Fair The Washington County Historical Association will be at the County Fair. Watch for some special activities to help celebrate our 75th year.
Monday, July 29, 2013   W-CHAT at the Fair  2:00 PM  The Dunne's will present Digeree Doo and Dulcimer Too at the fair. Look for details to come.

Monday, August 12, 2013   Annual Meeting & Awards Program  6:00 PM  This is the annual meeting and awards program for everyone to attend. Volunteers will be recognized and several special awards will be presented.
Monday, August 12, 2013   Board of Directors  6:45 PM  Board of Directors will meet at the Museum. Officer elections and other important issues will be discussed. All are welcome.
Thursday, August 15, 2013   W-CHAT on Lewis & Clark  7:00 PM  Darrel Draper will present his interpretation of George Druillard, member of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. If you have not seen this, it is a must see presentation. If you have seen it, come again and see what you have forgotten.

Washington County Art Last year was such a success that we decided to repeat the exhibit with some new artists and some comfortable friends.
Monday, September 9, 2013   Board of Directors  6:00 PM  The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors will be held at the Blair Chamber of Commerce building Board Room. The meeting is open to all.
Thursday, September 12, 2013   Museum Guild  1:30 PM  The Guild will meet in the library with its monthly meeting.
Thursday, September 19, 2013   W-CHAT in Blair  7:00 PM  The presentation by Cherrie Beam-Clark is the second part of her presentation on Irish migration to Nebraska. Part one last year was so good, the people demanded we bring in part two. While a continuing story, both parts stand on their own.
Saturday, September 28, 2013   Smithsonian Museum Day Live!  Noon-4:00 PM  On this day you will have free access to the museum and the Frahm House. Other events may be scheduled, so stop back and check up.

THE MAXIMILIAN-BODMER EXPEDITION THIS EXHIBIT IS TRAVELING AROUND NEBRASKA THIS YEAR. THROUGH THE NEBRASKA ARTS COUNCIL AND THE JOSLYN, WE ARE FORTUNATE TO PRESENT A NUMBER OF PRINTS OF THIS OUTSTANDING WORK. A MUST SEE AND ONE HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR.
Saturday, November 2, 2013   Candle Light Tour at the Fort Reservations required for this opportunity to view the Fort from a whole different perspective.

Thursday, November 21, 2013   Music of the Plains  7:00 PM  David Marsh will present our last W-CHAT of the year at Fernandos immediately following the Sugar Plum Walk. This presentation is appropriate for the entire family and we would like to think it is a fitting end to an exciting day. Join us.
Thursday, November 21, 2013   Sugar Plum Walk  5:00 PM - 7:00 PM  We will be at the Walk in Blair and look forward to meeting all of you and sharing in this exciting experience.

Christmas at the Museum and House Join us for the decorations and fun at both sites. At the Frahm House we will have it dressed to the hilt in Christmas attire. At the Museum we hope to have a great collection of Angels we have Heard on High and maybe a little music to go with it.

Museum and House Closed The Museum will close at 5:00 PM on December 23rd and reopen at 9:00 Am on December 26th. We hope you all have a cance to celebrate with your families as we will with ours.
