The
Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail is administered by the National Park
Service. These sites and segments are on the route followed by
the Lewis and Clark expedition. The National Park Service has certified the Lewis & Clark
Diorama
at the Washington County Museum as an official part of the
Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail.
To qualify, the site
or segment must be open to the public, interpret some part of
the Lewis and Clark story, or provide the public an
opportunity to retrace the Lewis and Clark Trail.
Certified,
non-federal sites on the trail include state parks, private
nonprofit museums, interpretive centers, American Indian
museums, many hiking trails, interpretive wayside signs,
interpretive kiosks, and other Lewis and Clark sites.
